Roadside MBA: Back Road Lessons for Entrepreneurs, Executives and Small Business Owners

What happens when three Kellogg School of Management professors hop in a car and take a road trip? Not only will you read about some great stories, but also you will discover a host of significant business lessons as told through the perspective of a classic American road trip in the book Roadside MBA: Back Road Lessons for Entrepreneurs, Executives and Small Business Owners.

I appreciate the practical advice the authors provide as filtered through the lens of small businesses throughout rural America. However, the big picture lesson for small business owners and managers here is to get out of textbook theory (both in formal business education and business management books, consultant advice, etc.) and truly observe when you are out of town on business or vacation to see what lessons you can pick up from some great businesses you’ve likely never heard of.

It’s a great breath of fresh air to see these business professors step out of their ivory towers and go into small towns looking for practical application of business principles. Any small business owner and especially those who have a business background or MBA will appreciate the unique stories and content development these professors undertook to write this excellent and easy read.
